Humly are recruiting for a versatile and nurturing Teaching Assistant / SEN Learning Support Assistant to work part-time at a primary school in Carlisle from September 2026. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting early learners across EYFS and Key Stage 1, while also making a direct impact through 1:1 SEN support for a child with additional needs. The school needs a calm, reliable and adaptable support assistant who can build positive relationships and support pupils with learning, routines and confidence.
Role Details

- Pay Rate: £14.26-£15.46 per hour, depending on role and support level
- Schedule: Part-time - 3 days per week

- End Date: 18/12/2026, with potential to extend

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils across EYFS and KS1 with general classroom support in Early Years and Key Stage 1
- 1:1 SEN support for a child with additional needs
- Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 routines as needed
- Play-based learning, phonics, early literacy and numeracy activities
- Small-group support and individual pupil support
- Supporting communication, confidence and emotional regulation
- Helping pupils stay settled, engaged and ready to learn
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider primary school team
You’ll Be a Good Fit If You…
- Have experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, EYFS Teaching Assistant or KS1 Teaching Assistant
- Have supported children in EYFS, Reception, Nursery, Year 1 or Year 2
- Are confident providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
- Understand early years routines, classroom support and child development
- Are calm, nurturing, patient and consistent
- Can adapt between general classroom support and individual SEN support
- Are reliable and able to commit to a 3-day role from September
- Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or are willing to apply for one
- Are willing to complete Humly’s safeguarding and compliance process before placement
