Humly are recruiting for a School Catering Manager to work at a school in Blackburn, supporting the smooth running of the school kitchen and lunchtime catering provision. This Catering Manager role is ideal for someone with experience as a School Cook, Cook Supervisor, Kitchen Manager, Catering Supervisor or Catering Manager. The school needs someone organised, reliable and confident managing food preparation, kitchen routines, food hygiene, stock control and a small catering team within a busy school environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the school kitchen
  • Preparing, cooking and serving school meals
  • Leading kitchen routines and supporting catering staff
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Following food safety, health and safety and allergen procedures
  • Managing stock, food orders and kitchen supplies
  • Supporting portion control, waste reduction and efficient food service
  • Ensuring meals are served on time and to a good standard
  • Communicating professionally with school staff and pupils
  • Keeping accurate kitchen, cleaning and food safety records where required

You’ll Be a Good Fit If You…

  • Have experience as a Catering Manager, Kitchen Manager, Cook Supervisor, School Cook or Catering Supervisor
  • Have experience working in a school kitchen, nursery kitchen, care setting, hospitality kitchen or similar catering environment
  • Are confident preparing and serving meals in line with food hygiene standards
  • Understand food safety, allergen awareness and safe food storage
  • Can lead by example and support kitchen staff effectively
  • Are organised, reliable and able to work to school lunchtime deadlines
  • Can manage stock, supplies and kitchen routines efficiently
  • Have strong communication skills and a professional approach
  • Hold a Food Hygiene qualification, or are willing to update this if required
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or are willing to apply for one
  • Are willing to complete Humly’s safeguarding and compliance process before placement
