We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive primary school in Alnwick from September 2026 until July 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA, an Early Career Teacher (ECT), or a qualified teacher looking for a varied and rewarding role across our school. The successful candidate will work with pupils across a range of year groups, providing high-quality classroom support and delivering planned learning when required.
The Role
- Provide high-quality teaching and learning support across a variety of classes from EYFS to Year 6.
- Deliver lessons and learning activities in the absence of class teachers.
- Work with individuals, small groups and whole classes to support pupil progress.
- Assist in the planning, preparation and assessment of learning activities.
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs to achieve their full potential.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a nurturing learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and school leaders.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds HLTA status, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or is an ECT.
- Has experience working within a primary school setting.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is adaptable, proactive and confident.
