  • Communication & Sensory Support: Utilize specialized communication tools (such as PECS or Makaton) or sensory strategies as required by the pupil’s needs.
  • Personal Care & Wellbeing: Assist with personal care, mobility, or emotional regulation, maintaining the child’s dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Observation & Reporting: Work closely with the SENCO and Class Teacher to track progress and adjust support strategies.
  • Inclusion: Foster social interaction between the pupil and their peers to encourage social development.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience working with SEND pupils, ideally within an Early Years or Nursery setting.
  • Temperament: A calm, proactive, and incredibly patient nature.
  • Knowledge: An understanding of the EYFS framework and various SEND needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, or Global Developmental Delay).
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with the child, parents, and school staff.
