We are working with a College in Newcastle who are looking for a permanent member of staff to lead the English department. This would be a full time position starting from September.
Requirements:
- Strong management background and skills
- Drive around high achievement and strong with deadlines
- Must have a teaching qualification
- Ideally from a background in English but will consider other subject areas if they are strong in all the other areas
- Managing Functional skill and GCSE English department
- Consideration for HOD/Curriculum Managers for any subject area

- Confident and experienced leader with a strong background in English education and curriculum delivery
- A degree (or equivalent professional qualification) at Level 6 or above
- Proven experience leading and line managing teams, setting clear expectations and tackling underperformance
- A strong track record of delivering against strategic objectives and quality standards
- Experience managing budgets and driving value for money
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills
- A deep commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing
