A specialist SEND school in South Croydon is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position. You will be working closely with children who have Autism and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), supporting their learning, communication and personal development in a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
The Role
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with classroom activities, sensory sessions and daily routines
- Providing personal care where required, including toileting and hygiene
- Promoting independence, communication and positive behaviour
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism and/or PMLD
- Is comfortable and confident providing personal care
- Is patient, resilient and caring
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
- Can commit to the role Monday to Friday on a long-term basis
