SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Tulse Hill
Pay: £95–£105 per day
Hours: Monday–Friday

Humly is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a secondary school in Tulse Hill, South London.
We’re looking for a calm, patient and proactive person who can de-escalate conflict, support pupils experiencing emotional dysregulation and help them refocus on their classwork.
The role
- Support pupils to manage their emotions and engage positively with learning.
- Use effective de-escalation strategies and clear, consistent boundaries.
- Adapt learning on the spot using whiteboards, sentence starters, mind maps and other practical strategies.
- Repeat, simplify and break down classroom instructions so pupils understand what they need to do.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to provide consistent support.
What we’re looking for
- Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour calmly and sensitively.
- An understanding of how emotional dysregulation can affect learning.
- The ability to adapt activities and communicate instructions clearly.
- Reliability and availability to commit to ongoing work Monday–Friday.
