Technical Lead Engineer

Humdinger, Heckington NG34 9JH

Humdinger nut processing factory in Heckington are looking for two Technical Lead Engineers to join our Engineering Department and play a key role in driving continuous improvement, compliance, and capital projects. These brand new roles for Humdinger involve directing the engineering team, ensuring efficient resource utilisation, maintaining CMMS and stock control, and optimising operational performance across the site.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Shift: 06:00 - 18:00 (3 days on, 4 days off rotating between Monday-Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday every 4 weeks)

Responsibilities

  • Attend daily DOR meetings and contribute to factory performance reviews.
  • Support the successful delivery of capital projects.
  • Collaborate with production, planning, and engineering teams to optimize operations.
  • Provide updates, address issues, and drive improvement plans alongside the Engineering Manager.
  • Lead, mentor, and support engineers while organizing workflows efficiently.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
  • Provide technical direction on mechanical and electrical breakdowns, as well as planned preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain CMMS systems to uphold plant maintenance to the highest standards.
  • Oversee stock control to ensure parts availability and strict inventory management.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP, health & safety standards, and site facilities support.
  • Manage contractor control and permit-to-work systems.
  • Develop operational staff in autonomous maintenance practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant training programs.

Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Competency in both electrical and mechanical disciplines, supported by formal qualifications.
  • Experience delivering capital projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate engineering teams.
  • Time-served engineer with a formal electrical/mechanical qualification.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and GMP.
  • Ability to interpret schematic and design drawings.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and stock control.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring compliance.
  • Strong health & safety awareness (IOSH or NEBOSH qualification required).

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of food industry codes of practice.
  • Experience with CAD or similar systems.
  • MEWP trained.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Regulations.
  • Testing and inspection qualifications.
  • PLC fault-finding skills (input/output card level).
