Humdinger is seeking an experienced and passionate Hygiene Manager to lead hygiene operations at our Bromborough Nut Snacking site. The role involves ensuring the factory environment, equipment, and processes meet high standards of cleanliness and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
As the Hygiene Manager, you will manage a dedicated team, oversee pest control, and promote effective hygiene practices that are continuously improved. This pivotal role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
Position Details
- Hours: 37.5 per week
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:30
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership
- Manage the Hygiene Team, including holiday requests, absence management, recruitment, and performance reviews.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to ensure all team members meet hygiene standards.
- Drive motivation and engagement within the team to achieve business objectives.
- Hygiene Operations
- Ensure all cleaning schedules are followed and completed to high standards.
- Conduct inspections to verify the effectiveness of cleaning activities.
- Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory hygiene standards, including UK retail standards.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain hygiene records, including CICs, COSHH risk assessments, and audits.
- Regularly audit hygiene documentation and address non-conformances promptly.
- Lead hygiene audits, including unannounced visits by customers and third parties.
- Chemical and Pest Control Management
- Ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH requirements.
- Manage chemical stock, usage, and supplier relationships.
- Oversee pest control operations, analyze reports, and implement corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate across teams to identify and implement hygiene improvements.
- Monitor and enhance hygiene performance metrics.
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in food manufacturing quality or hygiene leadership roles.
- Completion of UK Retail Customer Hygiene/Manufacturing Standards courses or relevant experience.
- Passion for hygiene, attention to detail, and high standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of pest control principles.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
Desirable Skills
- Level 3 Health and Safety qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with taste panels, retail training, and 'Train the Trainer' certification.
