As a Baker, you will be responsible for creating a variety of baked goods while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. About Humble & Whole Bakery: Humble & Whole is a rapidly growing independent artisan micro-bakery based in Rossett, Wrexham. Established eight weeks ago, we are a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to crafting exceptional, handcrafted bread and pastries using traditional methods and the finest local ingredients. Our mission extends beyond baking; we are committed to fostering social change and enhancing community well-being through ethical practices and inclusivity. The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Experienced Baker to join our expanding team. This is a significant opportunity for an individual to work autonomously and substantially influence our product offering. The successful candidate will be instrumental in elevating our reputation as a leading social business in the Wrexham area, with a particular focus on enhancing and developing our distinct range of artisan breads. You will have the chance to introduce and perfect speciality breads and long fermentation techniques, truly putting your mark on the local food scene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of our bread and pastry production, ensuring consistently high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Develop and implement innovative new recipes, with a strong emphasis on advancing our artisan bread range, including various speciality breads and long fermentation techniques.
- Maintain rigorous quality control and consistency across all baked goods.
- Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to junior bakers, fostering their development in both bread and pastry production.
- Plan and lead engaging community workshops and events, sharing baking knowledge and fostering community connections.
- Ensure strict compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Actively contribute to the strategic growth and continuous development of the bakery.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Head Baker or in a similar senior baking role, demonstrating extensive expertise in artisan bread production.
- In-depth knowledge of traditional and contemporary bread-making techniques, including sourdough, various shaping methods, and long fermentation processes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A profound passion for community engagement and contributing to social impact.
- A strong commitment to social responsibility and ethical business practices.
Working Hours:
- Full-time: Approximately 40 hours per week.
- Part-time options are also available, with a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week.
- 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).
