Overview

Humberside Fire & Rescue Service have an exciting opportunity to join our Fire Safety Protection team as an Inspecting Officer. This is a challenging role with a high level of knowledge required, resulting in a qualified inspector not only auditing and ensuring compliance of fire regulations, but enforcing and prosecuting where appropriate. The role of an Inspecting Officer is to ensure the responsible persons of the business community are identifying their fire risks and taking appropriate measures to mitigate them. The Inspecting Officers also ensure that all new and planned renovations of buildings are built to a safe standard taking into account the end users of the building. Successful candidates will be expected to travel across the area subject to the service need.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of business safety audits in commercial premises in line with the Service\’s risk-based inspection programme.
  • Conducting statutory consultations, (checking building plans, licensing etc) to support building control bodies and other service partners.
  • Advise on all aspects of fire safety standards appropriate to the business community\’s risk in accordance with the relevant codes and legal requirements.

The successful candidates will be required to complete a fully supported and comprehensive development programme leading to the attainment of a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety.
