Are you an engineer with the drive and energy to join a growing company in helping drive solutions for our clients? We are looking for an Engineering Design Manager, to lead a team of multidiscipline inhouse designers and manage third party design partners in a broad industrial client base. This is an opportunity to join a company that is growing and is moving to the forefront in delivery in niche markets whilst also delivering for our current client’s and shareholders. Responsibilities: * Aiding trainee with learning; * Overseeing internal and external design teams; * Tracking and reviewing design documentation; * Leading project/design review meetings; * Value engineering of the project; * Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies; * Manage, mentor and develop junior team members and graduate engineers; * Implement the relevant requirements of the Safety Management System within their area of responsibility; * Coordination of numerous live projects; * Prepare and attend tender meetings in a design capacity; * Assisting the Design Lead(s) in the review of design resources and outputs; * Internal liaison with the Construction Team, QA team and Cost Control; * External liaison with Subcontractors / Suppliers and Stakeholders, close co-ordination with the Design Manager required; * Work with the contracts manager and procurement team. Requirements: * Ideally degree qualified and chartered engineer, with a minimum 10 years relevant experience; * Proven track record of successfully working on major M&E projects; * A broad knowledge on a cross-discipline basis * Experience within food, manufacturing, high care, high hazard industries is desirable. * Experience working on international projects desirable. * Experience working within a highly regulated environment may be an advantage but not a necessity; * Know what good looks like in bid submissions and work winning and have hands on experience of delivering work-winning bids in a timely manner; * Previous experience working in a design management role; * You have built up realistic experience of how long design tasks take to conceptualise, design and test; * The ability to identify project risks and recommend appropriate mitigations and contingencies.
