The Head of Product & Engineering will lead Humara's combined product and engineering organisation through a critical next stage of growth and change. This role is accountable for shaping the product and engineering strategies, and turning strategy into high-quality, commercially impactful product outcomes, at pace. They will own product and engineering execution, shape a focused roadmap, and ensure our architecture, delivery practices and team model are built around measurable customer and revenue impact. As Humara evolves to a fully AI-native operating model, this person will shape how we build: creating lean cross-functional teams, embedding AI-assisted engineering and quality practices, reducing handoffs, and building a culture of pace, ownership, technical excellence and accountability. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring someone who can operate close to the product, architecture, delivery and team-level execution, while providing credible leadership to the SLT, customers and wider business.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the CEO and SLT to shape product and engineering strategies, ensuring the roadmap is commercially focused, technically credible and sharply prioritised.
  • Own the product and engineering execution plan, translating strategy into a roadmap, technical priorities, measurable outcomes and disciplined delivery.
  • Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle - from ideation and specification through to build, test, release and iteration - ensuring speed and quality along the way.
  • Ensure the platform, architecture, infrastructure and engineering practices are scalable, resilient, secure and capable of supporting high-volume enterprise customers.
  • Design and lead a lean, AI-native product and engineering organisation: small cross-functional teams, fewer handoffs, AI-assisted coding and quality engineering, faster experimentation, clear ownership, strong technical standards and high accountability for outcomes.
  • Partner closely with the Head of AI to ensure differentiating GenAI, classic machine learning and other data science solutions are effectively integrated into the product.
  • Ensure complex technical trade-offs and product priorities are clearly understood by the senior leadership team and wider business.
  • Define, monitor and report on the metrics that matter: product performance, platform health, delivery effectiveness, customer impact and commercial outcomes.
  • Regularly engage with customers - ensuring the voice of the customer drives our decision making and building customer confidence in Humara's roadmap and ability to create measurable value.

This will be a hybrid role, with a minimum of two days a week in our Brighton office.

Requirements

  • Proven track record leading product and engineering functions in a product-led business, ideally with direct experience building AI products.
  • Strong execution discipline in a scale-up environment; able to turn strategy into shipped product, measurable customer outcomes and sustained operational improvement.
  • Proven experience with AI-native product and engineering operating models, including discovery, specification, coding, quality assurance, documentation, workflow automation and team models that improve delivery speed, quality and accountability.
  • Hands-on technical background with knowledge of modern cloud-native architecture, and the ability to make credible architectural, systems design and technical trade-off decisions.
  • Strong commercial and product judgement, with experience connecting product and engineering decisions to revenue outcomes, customer value and evidence-based prioritisation.
  • Excellent communicator, able to explain complex technical and product trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders, customers and non-technical audiences.
