About the Role
As IT Operations Lead, you will take end-to-end ownership of Humanoid’s IT infrastructure and platforms, building a secure, modern, and scalable environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive day-to-day operations in the early stages while designing the architecture, processes, and vendor landscape to support Humanoid’s growth.
As the company scales, the role will evolve into leading a high-performing operations team, setting the strategic direction for infrastructure, platforms, and productivity tooling. You will work closely with the Cyber Security Lead, ITSM Lead, and the Product/Robotics teams to ensure IT enables Humanoid’s mission with reliability and scalability.
What You’ll Do
- Infrastructure Ownership – Manage all aspects of IT infrastructure including cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), networking, storage, endpoint management, and backup/disaster recovery.
- Own and optimise developer tooling (GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD, dev/test environments) and collaboration/productivity platforms (Google Workspace, Atlassian, Slack/Chat).
- Operational Roadmap – Define and execute a roadmap that balances immediate stability with future scalability.
- Identity & Access – Design and enforce IAM frameworks, device policies, and MDM solutions that provide security without compromising agility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Product/Robotics teams to integrate IT requirements; collaborate with Cyber Security Lead to embed controls; align with ITSM Lead for smooth service delivery.
- Standards & Processes – Establish lightweight, auditable operational standards, policies, and processes; manage key infrastructure and SaaS vendors for cost and performance optimization.
- Monitoring, Performance & Reliability – Implement monitoring and observability across infrastructure and platforms; act as escalation point for incidents and drive root cause remediation.
- Demonstrated experience in IT operations within dynamic, high-growth environments; hands-on expertise across AWS/Azure, networks, and endpoint management; strong IAM, MDM, and device policy experience at scale.
- Experience managing collaboration/productivity tooling and developer platforms; ability to define and execute operational roadmaps balancing near-term needs with long-term scalability.
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management, including contract negotiation; familiarity with cyber security principles; excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Comfortable in a start-up/scale-up environment; hands-on, adaptable, proactive, and ownership-driven; experience supporting product development environments (robotics, IoT, AI, or other R&D-heavy contexts).
- Hands-on experience deploying AI solutions to improve operational efficiency; knowledge of ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks; exposure to ISO 27001, SOC2, or NIST compliance.
- Experience scaling IT teams from small core functions to mature multi-discipline organizations.
