Do you have an understanding of substance use and associated health and social issues? Do you have experience of working in an addictions or social care setting? We are offering the perfect environment to put your skills to great use. Aquarius is seeking a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Practitioner in Telford. Telford STaRS is for anyone (children and young people from 10+ and adults 18+) who is using, or affected by, problems associated with drugs and/or alcohol.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, assessments, brief and structured interventions and group programmes.
  • Act as the initial contact for referrals into the service, conducting initial assessments via telephone and face to face.
  • Offer relevant and appropriate advice, harm minimisation, family interventions, risk assessment and management.
  • Action onward referrals to partner agencies.
  • Manage a caseload and maintain professional records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, candidates with experience in the substance misuse field and a commitment to completing NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care will be considered.
  • Good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health-related issues.
  • Experience liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals; comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings.
  • Ability to collaborate with service users, families and external agencies to maximise outcomes.
  • Flexible approach, commitment to confidentiality principles and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office skills.
