Criminal Justice Engagement and Recovery Coordinator

Working hours: Monday-Friday 9:15am-5:15pm with occasional weekend work

Location: Base location is Pelican House, Bradford, BD1 5BA; however, you will be required to work from probation offices and police stations.

About the role…

We are seeking a motivated Criminal Justice Engagement and Recovery Coordinator to work with individuals within the criminal justice system, increasing engagement with treatment and recovery through high-quality, evidence-based interventions. The role involves engaging with service users across custody suites, prisons, and probation services, facilitating harm reduction, promoting recovery, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes. The focus will be on engaging difficult-to-reach individuals often involved in multiple criminal justice agencies, aiming to reduce substance-related harm, build recovery capital, and ensure continuity of care through scheduled appointments and partnerships.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in vulnerable individuals\’ lives and contributing to community safety and health.

Main duties include:

  • Providing effective brief interventions to individuals within the criminal justice system
  • Engaging service users into treatment with a small caseload, focusing on hard-to-reach individuals
  • Delivering group and recovery sessions at various locations, including probation offices and prisons
  • Providing harm minimisation support to substance users
  • Supporting service users in managing challenges upon release from custody
  • Signposting to local services and empowering community connections
  • Promoting recovery and hope among service users
  • Collaborating with agencies and stakeholders to address barriers to access
  • Strengthening recovery capital and community ties for long-term progress
  • Ensuring effective communication with all involved in the care of service users

About you…

Essential criteria:

  • Thorough knowledge of substances and effects
  • Understanding of substance use impacts on individuals and communities
  • Ability to engage service users through various methods including group work and recovery sessions
  • A driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.

Desirable criteria:

  • Lived experience
  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and agencies
