We are seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers for high-volume container logistics and intermodal freight operations based in Felixstowe. Positioned at the UK’s premier container port with direct, uncongested access to the A14, A12, and Midlands corridor, this role offers premium hourly rates, predictable shift rotas, and dependable long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.

Key Details & Responsibilities

  • Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Day shifts, night trunks, and 4-on/4-off patterns available)
  • Start Date: Immediate starts available following port registration and driving assessment
  • Safe Transport: Container haulage, skeletal trailer movements, and depot-to-rail/port intermodal transfers across the national distribution network
  • Vehicle Checks: Conducting mandatory pre-use walk-around safety checks and logging any vehicle or trailer defects
  • Compliance: Ensuring correct twistlock securing, gross vehicle weight compliance, and strict adherence to EU Drivers' Hours and digital tachograph laws
  • Documentation: Managing electronic container delivery orders (EDO), interchange documentation, and port gatehouse sign-offs

Requirements

  • Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
  • Port Knowledge: RHIDES card or prior Felixstowe port and skeletal trailer experience preferred (port induction provided for strong candidates)
  • Clean Record: Maximum 6 penalty points (strictly no DR/DD/IN/TT convictions)
  • Professional Standards: Strong commitment to dockside safety protocols, defensive driving, and punctual departures
