Security Engineer – Help Safeguard the Future of Clean Energy
Oxfordshire HQ (Hybrid) | Mid-Level | Full-Time | High-Growth Opportunity
A global energy company is looking for a Security Engineer to join its fast-growing information security function in Oxford. The successful candidate will help secure a suite of high-impact, data-driven products that support some of the world’s most important organisations in navigating the energy transition.
The company’s software and analytics platforms are relied upon by governments, investors, utilities, and energy innovators to make complex decisions, energy policy, and infrastructure investment. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of a mission-led business, securing systems that genuinely affect the future of global energy.
The Impact of This Role:
The Security Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams – including software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and platform engineers – to ensure security is embedded throughout the technology stack. From cloud-native deployments to product design, the role is hands-on, visible, and influential.
This position would suit someone with a few years of experience who’s looking for more ownership, wider impact, and a meaningful mission.
- Lead security initiatives across product development lifecycles
- Build and promote secure-by-design practices within CI/CD environments
- Conduct architecture reviews, threat modelling, and risk assessments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to solve security challenges without compromising delivery
- Support compliance efforts across ISO 27001, SOC2, and internal risk frameworks
- Contribute to vulnerability management, secure deployment processes, and ongoing cloud security operations
- Background in security engineering or DevSecOps
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, infrastructure-as-code, and microservice architectures
- Understanding of secure software development principles and OWASP Top 10
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams
Bonus points for experience with:
- IAM protocols such as OAuth2, OIDC, FIDO2
- Pen testing or offensive security techniques
What’s on Offer:
- The chance to secure products used by high-profile global clients across the energy, policy, and investment sectors
- A hybrid working model with an Oxford-based HQ
- A strong salary and a generous total reward package, including:
- Private Medical & Dental Insurance
- Flexible start/finish times
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Career progression in a globally scaling organisation
This is an opportunity to secure platforms that are actively shaping the global shift to cleaner energy – within a company known for innovation, data excellence, and rapid international growth.
