Ready to turn complex data into meaningful decisions? Want a contract where your dashboards, insights and recommendations will be seen by real stakeholders? Looking for an Outside IR35 Data Analyst role with scope to shape reporting, improve data quality and uncover commercial opportunities?

Our client is looking for a Data Analyst Contractor to join a growing data function on an initial 6-8 month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a hybrid role based around Reading, offering ~£400 per day Outside IR35.

You’ll be working across customer, operational and third-party datasets, helping business teams understand performance, identify risks and opportunities, and make smarter decisions through high-quality analysis, reporting and visualisation. The original brief highlights close collaboration with senior stakeholders, data architecture, engineering and application support teams, as well as hands-on work across SQL, Excel, dashboards, data validation and governance.

Why This Role is Great

This is a brilliant opportunity to take ownership of useful, visible data work in a business that is investing in analytics, automation and insight-led decision-making. You’ll get to:

  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations that help teams understand what is really happening.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to turn questions and requirements into practical analytical solutions.
  • Analyse data from multiple sources to find trends, anomalies, risks and opportunities.
  • Carry out data validation and quality assurance so that reporting is trusted, accurate and reliable.
  • Use your SQL and Excel expertise to query, manipulate, cleanse and prepare data.
  • Support data-led recommendations that influence operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Document data products clearly, including sources, definitions, metadata and usage considerations.
  • Work alongside data engineers, data architects and business teams in a collaborative data environment.
  • Contribute to good data governance, privacy and security practices, including GDPR-aware reporting.
About You

You’ll likely be a confident Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Reporting Analyst or Insights Analyst who enjoys working with stakeholders as much as working with data. Our client would love to speak with people who bring some of the following:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large, varied datasets.
  • Good SQL skills for querying, shaping and analysing relational data.
  • Advanced Excel capability for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience creating dashboards or reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • A clear communication style, with the ability to explain insight to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A practical approach to data quality, validation and assurance.
  • The confidence to work independently, manage priorities and adapt when requirements change.
  • Awareness of GDPR, privacy and responsible data handling.
  • Experience with Python, R, GIS tools, QGIS, data governance, dashboard design principles or data within a large operational environment would be a bonus, but it is not essential.

Candidates with transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
