Would you thrive in a role where travel, troubleshooting, and technical mastery come together? Are you looking for a career move that blends engineering, innovation, and field deployment in a supportive, forward-thinking team? If so, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Join a team at the forefront of infrastructure monitoring innovation. Our client, a leader in infrastructure monitoring and advanced survey solutions, is seeking a Field Systems Engineer to support the preparation, deployment, and performance of technical systems across the UK and internationally. This role plays a key part in ensuring complex survey and data capture equipment is optimised, maintained, and deployed smoothly. You will act as the essential link between workshop-based preparation and successful on-site operation, helping to drive system performance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Getting hands-on with innovative equipment – test, calibrate and prepare systems to deliver high-quality field data.
  • Mastering acceptance testing procedures – be a key part of system validation both pre-deployment and on-site.
  • Taking ownership of deployments – from mounting systems onto specialist platforms to providing field-based commissioning support.
  • Travelling across the UK and occasionally overseas – supporting customers on-site and ensuring smooth system performance.
  • Being the go-to technical expert – provide client-facing support, training, and technical guidance where needed.
  • Contributing to system improvements – bring ideas to life that improve processes, documentation, and performance.

About You:

You will be working with advanced sensors, data acquisition systems, and specialist survey platforms. This is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, system testing, and learning new technologies. You are likely to bring:

  • Experience working with technical or electronic equipment, instrumentation, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with serial communications (RS232 or RS422), and confidence with network configurations.
  • A natural curiosity and structured troubleshooting mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in client-facing scenarios.
  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel and stay overnight as needed.

Your Wishlist (but not a checklist):

We would be particularly excited if you also have:

  • Experience with survey equipment, sensors, or data capture technology.
  • An understanding of Factory and Site Acceptance Testing processes.
  • A background in electronics, engineering, or instrumentation.
  • Field service or equipment installation experience.
  • Awareness of infrastructure-based monitoring or mobile platform deployments.

Do not worry if you do not tick every box. If you have transferable skills and are eager to learn, we would still love to hear from you.

What’s In It for You:

  • Structured training in infrastructure monitoring systems.
  • Opportunities to grow into R&D and innovation projects.
  • A mix of workshop, office, and field-based work for real variety.
  • The chance to contribute to technical excellence and play a meaningful role in high-profile projects.

We believe diversity of background, thought, and experience makes teams stronger. Our client and our agency are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals are respected, empowered, and encouraged to thrive.
