We are working with a well established UK business operating in a regulated, operationally complex environment. They have a long track record of stability and are continuing to invest in how data is used across the organisation, particularly across finance and core business systems. Their data platform is evolving, and they are now looking for a Database Engineer to take ownership of their existing data warehouse and support the next phase of development. This is a hands on role with real responsibility, suited to someone who enjoys working close to the data and the business rather than sitting in a silo.

What you will be doing:

  • Owning and maintaining an existing data warehouse, ensuring performance, reliability and data quality.
  • Developing and improving data models to support reporting and business decision making.
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines, integrating data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Working closely with IT, Finance and business stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.
  • Monitoring and resolving data issues, performance bottlenecks and inconsistencies.
  • Supporting the gradual evolution of the data platform as the business grows.

What they are looking for:

  • Experience working with SQL in a production environment.
  • Hands on experience with data warehousing, data modelling or ETL pipelines.
  • Comfortable working with structured data and improving data quality and consistency.
  • Experience with Microsoft based data tools or cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • A practical, problem solving mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Confidence working with non technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Fabric, ERP systems or Jet Analytics would be beneficial, but not essential.

The role:

  • Hybrid working with three days per week onsite in Oxfordshire.
  • Salary up to £45k.
  • Permanent, long term opportunity with ownership and scope to grow.

If you are looking for a role where you can take real responsibility for a data platform, work closely with the business, and develop your skills over time, this could be a great next step.

Inclusion matters: We and our client are committed to building an inclusive team that values different backgrounds and experiences. If this role sounds interesting but you do not meet every single requirement, we would still encourage you to apply. Potential and attitude matter just as much as experience.
