Can you bring clarity to complex software delivery? Do you enjoy turning customer needs into practical, prioritised product work? Are you the person who can walk into a technically brilliant team and help them move faster, with more structure and confidence?
Our client is looking for an experienced Contract Technical Product Manager, Software Product Lead, Contract Product Owner or Technical Business Analyst to support a growing engineering-led business as it strengthens its software product delivery approach. This is a hands-on contract opportunity for someone who can bring immediate structure, pace and customer focus to a highly capable technical team. You will help translate customer requirements into clear user stories, tickets, milestones and delivery priorities, enabling the software team to build with greater confidence and commercial focus.
The Opportunity
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit at a distance and create strategy decks. It is a practical, delivery-focused contract where you will get close to the software team, the customer requirements and the commercial priorities. Our client already has strong technical and R&D capability; what they now need is someone who can help shape that capability into a more structured product delivery rhythm.
You will help create clearer roadmaps, better prioritised backlogs, sharper user stories and more predictable delivery planning. You will also support the team in understanding what needs to be built first, what can wait, and how customer requirements can be broken down into achievable development work.
Why This Role is Great
This contract gives you the chance to make a visible impact quickly. You will be trusted to bring structure, momentum and product thinking into a technically strong environment where your work will directly influence delivery confidence.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Turn customer, commercial and technical requirements into clear software deliverables
- Shape and prioritise the product backlog around customer value and business urgency
- Create user stories, tickets, acceptance criteria and practical delivery milestones
- Support sprint planning, delivery tracking and progress visibility
- Work closely with software engineers, R&D specialists, product design and senior stakeholders
- Help define a more mature software product delivery rhythm without introducing unnecessary process
- Improve visibility around blockers, dependencies, risks and timelines
- Support customer-facing requirement gathering where needed
- Reduce bottlenecks by taking ownership of day-to-day product requirement breakdown
- Bring practical product leadership into a small, fast-moving technical environment
You will be working with people who are technically strong, intellectually curious and close to the product. Your role will be to help them focus that capability into structured, commercially valuable software delivery.
About You
You may currently be working as a Contract Technical Product Manager, Interim Product Manager, Contract Product Owner, Software Product Lead, Technical Business Analyst, Agile Delivery Lead or Software Delivery Consultant. You may also have started your career as a software engineer, technical business analyst, engineering lead or product owner before moving into product management.
You will enjoy working in environments where things are still evolving. You will be comfortable with ambiguity, confident speaking with engineers and able to bring order without slowing the team down.
This could suit someone who has experience with:
- Software product delivery in technical, engineering, scientific, industrial, hardware, device, medtech or manufacturing environments
- Windows-based software products, desktop applications or software linked to physical products
- Technical environments involving Python, C#, .NET or similar technologies
- Translating complex technical requirements into practical development plans
- Agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog management and user story creation
- Tools such as Jira, ClickUp, Asana, Figma or similar
- Testing, validation, release processes or customer acceptance
- Working directly with customers to understand requirements, priorities and product needs
Deep domain expertise is not essential. What matters most is your ability to understand technical complexity, communicate clearly, prioritise effectively and help teams deliver.
The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive
This role will suit someone who is pragmatic, credible and comfortable getting hands-on quickly. You are likely to be someone who:
- Builds trust with engineers through clarity and good judgement
- Can challenge priorities constructively
- Understands commercial urgency as well as technical quality
- Is calm under pressure and comfortable making progress without perfect information
- Enjoys working directly with customers and internal stakeholders
- Can bring structure without creating heavy bureaucracy
- Works well in an SME, scale-up or evolving technical business
- Likes turning broad requirements into smaller, deliverable steps
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a tangible difference in a short period of time.
