About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing R&D-focused organisation working on high-performance mechanical and electronic systems. They are known for pushing boundaries in advanced prototyping and for combining smart software with innovative engineering techniques.
This role sits within their experimental team, focused on developing and maintaining test rigs and the supporting data infrastructure used to validate cutting‑edge components. You’ll work across physical setups and software systems to ensure accurate, efficient, and reliable data capture. It’s an ideal fit for someone who thrives in experimental environments, enjoys variety in their work, and wants to be involved in building something from the ground up.
What Makes This Role Stand Out
- End‑to‑end involvement: From hardware integration through to data analysis, your fingerprints will be on every part of the test system.
- Practical problem‑solving: This is a deeply hands‑on role that offers variety beyond a typical desk‑based engineering job.
- Growth potential: Join at a formative stage and shape how experimental systems are developed and scaled.
- Supportive culture: Collaborate with talented engineers across disciplines in an environment that values experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Future‑focused tech: Work with real‑time data systems, embedded devices, and custom‑built rigs that push standard engineering boundaries.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building and refining experimental test systems using LabVIEW or similar platforms.
- Integrating data acquisition hardware and sensors for real‑world component testing.
- Developing tools to automate data capture and post‑processing.
- Supporting system calibration, troubleshooting, and performance tracking.
- Collaborating with design, test, and analysis teams to feed results back into development.
- Managing version control, clean code practices, and documentation across test systems.
What You’ll Bring
This role is suited to someone with a practical mindset, solid technical foundations, and a willingness to learn through doing. You may have gained your experience through industry or through an academic/research setting where you led or supported experimental projects.
Your experience might include:
- Designing or maintaining data acquisition systems.
- Programming with LabVIEW (or equivalent) for hardware‑software integration.
- Working with sensors, electronics, and embedded systems.
- Writing analysis tools or scripts in Python or another language.
- Using Git or similar for version control and collaborative coding.
- Designing and running performance tests on mechanical or electronic components.
The Offer
- Based in Oxfordshire with access to excellent lab and workshop facilities.
- Competitive salary aligned with your experience.
- Equity options available as part of a long‑term incentive.
- Flexible, supportive, and innovation‑led environment.
