AWS DevOps Engineer | Hybrid | Oxfordshire

Our client is looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join their innovative infrastructure and security function. Based in Oxfordshire with hybrid working , with 1 or 2 days a week in the office - this role blends hands-on cloud engineering with operational leadership, offering both responsibility and autonomy.

You’ll work alongside the Head of Infrastructure and Security and be trusted to lead initiatives, support team operations, and drive collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Contribute to Internal IT Operations - Oversee endpoint provisioning, mobile device management (MDM), and secure access controls
  • Step Into Leadership - Support the Head of Infrastructure and Security by mentoring others, participating in planning, and stepping in during their absence

About You

This role is ideal for a DevOps or Cloud Engineer ready to take the next step in ownership and influence. You enjoy building resilient infrastructure, improving deployment pipelines, and enhancing security in cloud environments.

You’ll gain exposure to a range of technologies and platforms including:

  • Major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, Pulumi, and CloudFormation
  • CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, or others
  • Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms
  • Monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or ELK
  • DevSecOps practices including policy-as-code, automated compliance, and secure CI/CD
  • MDM solutions like Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or equivalent

You’ll also be part of a technical guild, share ideas with peers, and contribute to architectural decisions.

Your Wishlist of Skills and Experience

Our client values transferable skills and welcomes candidates with related experience. The ideal person may have experience with:

  • Building and supporting cloud-native infrastructure on AWS or a similar platform
  • Writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code
  • Managing container platforms and resolving issues related to networking, storage, and scaling
  • Designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Implementing monitoring and centralised logging systems for alerting and troubleshooting
  • Supporting internal IT operations including endpoint management and access control
  • Participating in incident response and post-incident reviews
  • Applying knowledge of security frameworks or ITIL-based operations
  • Coaching or mentoring junior engineers
  • Bonus experience includes scripting or automation in languages like Python or Bash, and working with databases such as PostgreSQL.
