We are recruiting an experienced Overhead Crane Engineer for a field service role with a manufacturer of industrial capital equipment. The position involves travelling to customer sites to carry out servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, and fault-finding on overhead cranes and associated lifting equipment.

This role suits an engineer who is comfortable working independently in the field and dealing directly with customers.

The Role

  • Field-based servicing, maintenance, and repair of overhead and gantry cranes
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding on crane systems
  • Working with hoists, motors, brakes, controls, inverters, and pendant or radio systems
  • Responding to breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance
  • Completing service reports and job documentation accurately
  • Working at height and in live industrial environments
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with LOLER, PUWER, and company procedures

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a field-based Overhead Crane Engineer or similar lifting equipment role
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills essential
  • Good mechanical understanding of crane structures and drive systems
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Full UK driving licence essential
  • IPAF, ECS, or crane-related certifications advantageous but not essential
