We are recruiting an experienced Overhead Crane Engineer for a field service role with a manufacturer of industrial capital equipment. The position involves travelling to customer sites to carry out servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, and fault-finding on overhead cranes and associated lifting equipment. This role suits an engineer who is comfortable working independently in the field and dealing directly with customers.
The Role
- Field-based servicing, maintenance, and repair of overhead and gantry cranes
- Electrical and mechanical fault-finding on crane systems
- Working with hoists, motors, brakes, controls, inverters, and pendant or radio systems
- Responding to breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance
- Completing service reports and job documentation accurately
- Working at height and in live industrial environments
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with LOLER, PUWER, and company procedures
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a field-based Overhead Crane Engineer or similar lifting equipment role
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills essential
- Good mechanical understanding of crane structures and drive systems
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
- Full UK driving licence essential
- IPAF, ECS, or crane-related certifications advantageous but not essential
