A major engineering organisation specialising in heavy lifting, crane installation and complex mechanical projects is seeking an experienced Project Delivery Manager to lead high-profile installation works at Hinkley Point C. This is a senior site leadership role focused on the delivery of overhead crane and heavy mechanical installation packages within one of the UK’s most technically demanding infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will take ownership of programme delivery, lifting operations, stakeholder coordination, safety leadership and commercial oversight across critical installation activities on site.
This position would suit someone with a strong background in:
- Overhead crane installation

- Nuclear, power generation, ports, petrochemical or heavy engineering environments
The Role
You will act as the key operational interface between the client, Tier One contractors and internal engineering teams, ensuring installation activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex lifting and crane installation operations
- Coordinating design, fabrication, logistics, installation and commissioning activities
- Leading site teams, supervisors and subcontractors
- Managing programme delivery and installation sequencing
- Overseeing lift planning, RAMS and temporary works coordination
- Driving safety standards within a highly regulated environment
- Attending planning and coordination meetings with Tier One contractors
- Managing commercial reporting, change control and project progress updates
- Supporting problem solving and technical coordination during installation phases
Candidate Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Extensive experience delivering complex lifting or heavy mechanical installation projects
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations and BS7121
- Experience working with Tier One contractors on major projects
- Previous leadership of multidisciplinary site teams
- Strong programme and stakeholder management capability
- Experience within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, power, petrochemical or infrastructure is highly advantageous
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
- Appointed Person qualification advantageous
- SMSTS
- CSCS Black Card or equivalent
- IOSH or NEBOSH desirable
