A rapidly growing, PE-backed group building through acquisition seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to take genuine ownership of Group Reporting and Technical Accounting. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and Corporate Finance Director, you'll sit right between core financial accounting delivery and Group reporting.
What you'll bring:
- You're a technically strong, detail-oriented accountant with a firm grasp of IFRS and FRS 102.
- Real depth in IFRS 16, IFRS 15 and IAS 36.
- You can research a standard, apply it to a live transaction, and distil the answer into a clear, concise paper for a specialist or a non-specialist alike.
- You'll be ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Audit trained with 3+ years' post-qualification experience gained in a large, complex, listed or PE-backed organisation.
What you'll do:
- You'll be the Group's go-to technical resource on the complex, judgemental areas: leases (IFRS 16), revenue recognition (IFRS 15), impairment of goodwill and assets (IAS 36), financial instruments and business combinations, with solid FRS 102 knowledge alongside IFRS.
- You'll draft clear, well-evidenced technical accounting papers on new transactions and emerging issues.
- Lead the Group's impairment reviews and CGU analysis, and own the technical oversight of the IFRS 16 lease model.
- Keep the Group accounting policies manual current and consistently applied across the business.
- Support financial due diligence on targets, work on purchase price allocations, fair value assessments and opening balance sheet adjustments.
- Lead the technical side of post-acquisition integration, aligning newly acquired entities to Group policy as they rationalise structures.
- Own designated month-end close areas, take a lead role in year-end statutory accounts with ownership of the judgemental disclosures.
- Support the Group consolidation, and run the subsidiary statutory accounts across circa 60 entities (planning through filing and iXBRL tagging).
- Be a key point of contact for external audit, and support reporting to PE investors, lenders, Companies House and HMRC.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations for the complex areas, act as control owner where it counts, and coach the Financial Accountants — explaining technical positions clearly to non-technical colleagues across the business.
Why this role:
You'll get the technical scope and ownership that's genuinely hard to find at this level, the Group's most demanding accounting positions are yours to own, with a direct line to senior finance leadership and a front-row seat on the M&A driving the growth. It's a role where your technical judgement visibly shapes the numbers the business, its investors and its lenders rely on.
