Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Accountant to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £44,200 to £59,800 per annum depending on experience. Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.
As Systems Accountant, the successful candidate will play an integral role in configuring and developing Human Appeal's global financial system (currently Business Central) and performing business process analysis and user engagement to ensure that Human Appeal's financial systems evolve in line with operational needs, global strategy and regional compliance requirements. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Systems Accountant:
- All Human Appeal Finance teams equipped with scalable, reliable tools to streamline accounting operations
- An optimised, scalable and future-proofed Business Central implementation suitable for a global organisation
- Maximise automation, minimise manual intervention and accurate reporting for management and audited accounts
- A stable, well-integrated Business Central ecosystem that supports organisational data flows and decision-making
- Standardised global finance function via comprehensive user documentations including user guides and process maps.
What we’re looking for in our Systems Accountant:
Education
- Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
Experience
- Deep hands-on experience with Business Central, particularly in finance module configuration and support.
- Strong working knowledge of core finance processes and internal controls.
- Proven ability to translate operational finance needs into scalable, systemised solutions.
- Comfortable working independently across the organisation and technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience with system upgrades, user support, and process change.
- Experience with NGO or charity sector
- Microsoft Business Central certifications
- Advanced Excel skills
- Formal accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) or significant experience working closely with Finance.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform and Middleware tools
- Exposure to agile delivery methods and enterprise roadmap planning.
Skills
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Navision/Business Central or similar system
- MS Office Suite
- Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector
