Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.
The role will be worked on a full‑time basis in the Office.
You will join us on a full‑time basis as part of a permanent contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role.

As Group Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play an integral role in leading and overseeing the Group's financial control, reporting, and governance activities, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial information, maintaining a robust control environment, and providing strategic financial insight to support effective decision‑making, business performance, and sustainable growth across the organisation.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Group Financial Controller
- Timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Successful delivery of Group financial consolidations within agreed deadlines.
- Compliance with all applicable accounting standards, statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Unqualified external audit outcomes and timely resolution of audit findings.
- Maintenance of a robust internal control framework with minimal control deficiencies.
- Accuracy and reliability of financial data and management information.
- Effective cash flow monitoring and working capital management.
- Identification and implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency and financial controls.
- Provision of high‑quality financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision‑making.
- Effective management of financial risk, including timely identification and mitigation of issues.
- Development and performance of the finance team, including achievement of individual and departmental objectives.
- Stakeholder satisfaction with finance support and business partnering services.
- Achievement of cost control and financial performance targets across the Group.
- Successful implementation and optimisation of financial systems, policies, and procedures.
What we’re looking for in our Group Financial Controller
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification), with 7+ years PQE.
- Significant experience in financial control, group reporting, consolidation, and financial management within a complex organisation.
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within a Group controller.
- Experience managing external audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated success in improving financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
- Experience leading and developing high‑performing finance teams.
- Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector.
- Strong English is required, however additional languages are desirable (e. g. Arabic, Urdu, French, German, Spanish).
- Passionate about the Charity Sector.
