Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Project Manager to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of 38,675 - 52,325 per annum depending on experience. Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programmes and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.
As Associate Project Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in day-to-day planning, coordination, and delivery of projects and campaigns within the PMO, ensuring work streams are effectively managed, staff are supported, and delivery remains on track and aligned with agreed objectives. The post holder operates under the strategic oversight of the Head of PMO, who retains overall accountability for project governance and executive reporting. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities:
- On-time project delivery - % of projects delivered according to agreed timelines.
- Project milestones achieved - proportion of key milestones completed as scheduled.
- Quality of project outputs - delivery of assets, materials, and activities meeting agreed standards.
- Stakeholder satisfaction - feedback scores from internal teams, partners, and external suppliers.
- Risk and issue management effectiveness - number of risks identified early and resolved without escalation.
- Process compliance - adherence to internal project management frameworks, documentation, and governance.
- Delivery readiness - ensuring all project elements are completed, approved, and ready for implementation on time.
- Collaboration and communication effectiveness - timely updates, clarity of information shared, and engagement levels with cross-functional teams.
- Continuous improvement contributions - number of process enhancements suggested or implemented.
What we’re looking for in our Associate Project Manager:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, International Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Project management training or certifications desirable (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation, APM Associate/PMQ, AgilePM, Scrum certification).
- Additional training in charity, campaigns, or nonprofit management is an advantage.
Experience:
- 3-5 years' experience in project delivery or project management, including experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Experience providing informal or formal supervision is desirable.
- Experience supporting cross-functional organisational projects, initiatives, or campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to manage timelines, track deliverables, and coordinate tasks across teams.
- Experience working with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Click Up, Monday.com, MS Project, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting stakeholder communications, including preparing updates, reports, and meeting documentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience within charity and international development contexts is an advantage.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, and Monday.com).
- Confident using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with organisational systems (e.g., CRM, CMS, or equivalent operational platforms) is an advantage.
Languages:
- Excellent written and spoken English is a must.
