The role will involve manufacturing a wide variety of subcontract components for HUM Precision Engineering, alongside specialist tooling and machine components for Window Machine Tool Company.

  • Inspecting completed components using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Ensuring components are manufactured accurately and to the required quality.
  • Identifying and resolving programming, tooling and machining issues.
  • Completing route cards and production paperwork accurately at each stage of manufacture.
  • Reporting any incorrect or missing information on route cards and providing useful notes for future repeat manufacture.
  • Carrying out basic machine maintenance and keeping machines and work areas clean and organised.
  • Supporting other members of the workshop when required.

Skills and experience The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience as a CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator.
  • Experience programming with One CNC CAD/CAM or similar CAD/CAM software.
  • Good working knowledge of Heidenhain controls.

  • Experience using inspection equipment such as verniers, micrometers, bore gauges and height gauges.

A good understanding of machining tolerances and surface-finish requirements.

  • The ability to identify problems and find practical solutions.

Experience with every machine or control is not essential.

Training can be provided where required, provided the candidate has a strong CNC machining background and is willing to learn.

Personal qualities We are looking for someone who is: • Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Practical and confident in their machining decisions.
  • Focused on quality and attention to detail.
  • Able to organise their own workload effectively.
  • Willing to share knowledge and work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and prepared to support different areas of the business.
  • Interested in developing their skills as the company continues to grow.

Additional responsibilities and progression The exact duties and level of responsibility can be developed around the successful candidate’s experience, strengths and salary expectations.

For the right person, there will be opportunities to become involved in more advanced programming, production planning, improving workshop processes, supporting other machinists and taking greater responsibility for jobs from initial programming through to final inspection.
