About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facility Services and Sustainability team. This is a working supervisory role, responsible for overseeing a team of weekend cleaners while also undertaking cleaning duties alongside the team. The successful candidate will ensure that all assigned areas are cleaned to a high standard and in line with University policies, contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming campus environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day‐to‐day supervision and basic line management of weekend cleaning staff.
- Ensure cleaning tasks are completed to agreed standards and within required timescales.
- Support and participate in cleaning duties as part of the working team.
- Oversee team deployment and manage workloads across designated areas.
- Manage and record staff holidays, initial sickness reporting and documentation.
- Review and record overtime requests in accordance with University procedures.
- Maintain good communication within the cleaning team and with wider Facility Services colleagues.
- Promote safe working practices and adherence to health and safety guidelines.
About You
Essential:
- Experience in cleaning within a commercial, institutional or similar environment.
- Ability to supervise, motivate and support a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive, hands‐on approach to work.
Desirable:
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices related to cleaning operations.
