You will be a passionate aspiring journalist with a relevant journalism degree or NCTJ qualification, who has the writing skills and news sense to join the fast paced world of regional journalism.

This role is home and hub based linked to our Nottingham hub (right in the city centre, working 2-3 days per week from the hub), we are therefore open to candidates based in and around Nottingham.

Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will work as part of our news team to produce engaging digital local news content. You will have the opportunity to provide live coverage of breaking news and deliver exclusive off-diary stories written in a way that ensures as many people as possible see and respond to our work, helping us to have a positive impact on the communities we serve.
You will curate strong contacts within the industry, for story gathering in our existing and underserved communities. You will source and conduct interviews, take pictures and film footage whilst you are out on patch reporting, always thinking of how to scoop the next exclusive. This role includes working shifts on a rota basis including weekend and evening shifts so a flexible approach is required.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are a passionate journalist in training with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification and understanding of media law (essential). You are a first class writer with excellent storytelling ability and a keen eye for what makes a great story. You have some demonstrable experience writing for a similar regional news title and have a clear passion for local journalism.
You have an excellent understanding of the NottinghamshireLive brand and know how to tell stories that will relate directly to our ever growing and diverse audience. In order for you to be first on the scene when a story breaks, being able to drive is highly desirable. You have superb social media skills and an understanding of how to utilise various social platforms to make content engaging.
