We have an exciting opportunity to join Reach as an Audience Development Editor.

You provide valuable insight and planning to maximise page views, engagement and revenue across all distribution channels including search, social, newsletters, direct engagement and off platform.

You will report into the Head of Audience Development and create and nurture key relationships with Heads of the distribution channels, central Content Hub, editorial intelligence business partners and newsroom distribution leads. The role will have a key function in driving maximum audience across the Reach portfolio.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

As an Audience Development Editor, you will be at the heart of our content distribution strategy. Your role involves identifying and responding to emerging trends on key distribution channels, ensuring our content remains relevant and engaging for our audience. You will play a critical part in optimising the distribution of our content across all channels, ensuring maximum reach and impact.

You will be working closely with distribution channel leads and the Head of Audience Development, providing essential support on key projects aimed at expanding our audience and enhancing reader engagement.

Developing and implementing strategies and tactics designed to increase page views, engagement, subscriptions, and revenue will be a significant aspect of your role. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with channel leads and newsroom distribution leads to implement these strategies and review their impact, ensuring continuous improvement in our audience development efforts.

Additionally, you\’ll provide tools and actionable insights to enable newsroom audience leads and the central distribution team to operate effectively and efficiently. Utilising AI tools in line with company policies will also be part of your responsibilities, helping to improve efficiencies and revolutionise the way we distribute content to readers.

This role is integral to our organisation\’s success, requiring a proactive individual with a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for audience development.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You will be someone who excels at generating actionable insights from data with a deep understanding of digital audiences, both on and off platform, and possess strong relationship-building, communication, and teamwork skills. A comprehensive understanding of digital publishing and social media is essential, along with familiarity with Google search and Discover.

A passion for news and digital storytelling is crucial, as well as excellent prioritisation and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities effectively. You should have experience working in an audience role within a digital publishing environment and be adept at analysing data to inform strategies. An NCTJ or equivalent qualification is preferred, alongside a solid grasp of media law, including GDPR.
