The Careers Service is looking to grow the team. We deliver careers education, advice and guidance across the student journey, working closely with employers, academic colleagues and student services to support students to define and progress towards their own version of success.
We are excited to offer an opportunity for someone keen to build a career in careers and employability to join us as a Trainee Careers Adviser. This role is for candidates who do not yet hold a formal careers qualification, but who have the values, skills and commitment to develop into an excellent careers professional.
About the RoleAs a Trainee Careers Adviser, you will work directly with students, delivering careers and employability guidance through appointments, workshops and group activity. From day one, you will contribute to projects, deliver sessions (including to large groups) and support students to navigate decisions and next steps in ways that reflect their individual contexts and aspirations.
You will be supported to develop your professional practice and have structured training which includes a PG Cert and Higher Apprenticeship in Career Development which will be undertaken with the University of Warwick. You will be supported with mentoring and guidance from an experienced team of professionally qualified Careers Consultants.

You should be creative, open to trying new approaches, and motivated to build a long-term career in this field.

Apprenticeship EligibilityEligibility for apprenticeship funding is subject to residency and right to work criteria in line with ESFA funding rules. You will need to have been ordinarily resident in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start date.
Recruitment TimelinesDue to enrolment and funding mean the timelines below will need to be adhered to. Please include in your supporting statement confirmation of willingness to:
- Attend interview on Monday 1st June if shortlisted
- Be available to start in post no later than 6th July 2026
