We are now seeking an exceptional Head of Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting to play a pivotal leadership role in driving financial strategy, sustainability, and performance across the University.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership position within the Finance Directorate, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. You will lead on all aspects of financial planning, reporting, and analysis, ensuring high-quality insights that inform strategic decision-making at the highest levels. The post is offered on a 14-month fixed-term basis as maternity cover.

You will:

  • Lead financial reporting to senior bodies including the University Leadership Team, Finance & Investment Committee, and Council
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
  • Drive financial modelling for major strategic and capital investment initiatives
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across Financial Reporting, Business Partnering, and Analysis
  • Deliver clear, insightful financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements (e.g. Office for Students, TRAC, HE-BCI)
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes and systems

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking finance leader who can operate with autonomy and influence at senior level. You will bring:

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification
  • Significant experience in financial leadership and people management
  • Strong expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and reporting
  • Proven ability to present complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Experience driving change, improving processes, and implementing financial systems
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
