We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, creating a community where colleagues feel respected and valued. We aim to reflect the diversity of our students and communities, and to strengthen our university through collaboration and diverse perspectives, across all roles at the University.

We are looking to recruit a CRM and Data Officer to support our busy and ambitious Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement team as we prepare for our first major fundraising campaign. High quality data, insight and reporting underpin effective fundraising and alumni engagement, and this role will be central to maximising the value of our newly implemented CRM, Salesforce Education Cloud. The postholder will act as a data champion for the department, maintaining data quality and governance while producing dashboards and reports that drive evidence-based decision making. Working closely with fundraisers, alumni engagement colleagues and central product teams, the CRM and Data Officer will help translate business needs into actionable insight that directly supports fundraising strategy and planning.

Founded in 1927, the University of Hull has a long and proud history. Through our teaching, research and civic engagement, we are helping to shape and deliver the future prosperity of our region and far beyond. Our global alumni community, now numbering more than 190,000, is an integral part of our community. The Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement team is the link between the University and our alumni and supporters, providing bespoke engagement opportunities that build connections and raise philanthropic funding.

If you’re passionate about utilising data and systems to support the impact of philanthropy, and enjoy turning insight into action, this could be the role for you. In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll champion the value of high-quality data, reporting and CRM usage across Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, helping colleagues make informed decisions. Working closely with both technical and non-technical teams, you’ll turn complex data into clear insight that supports ambitious philanthropy and alumni engagement goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee data management and reporting across Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement to support effective fundraising and alumni engagement.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity and compliance (including UK GDPR) across Salesforce, Marketing Cloud and related systems.
  • Analyse and segment large alumni and donor datasets to support targeted communications, campaigns and planning.
  • Produce real-time dashboards and regular and ad‐hoc reports using Salesforce Education Cloud and CRM Analytics to enable evidence‐based decision‐making.
  • Work with the Head of Operations and Planning to design and maintain dashboards, uphold data governance, and support annual external data returns.
  • Collaborate closely with fundraisers, operations colleagues and central product teams to improve systems, reporting capability and data flows.
  • Work in a delivery pod with a Salesforce Developer, translating business needs into clear technical requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with technical and non‐technical stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between insight needs and technical delivery.
  • Champion the value of data and insight in supporting ambitious philanthropy and alumni engagement programmes.

What we’re looking for

  • Substantial experience in data management, handling and reporting, with a clear understanding of data quality and governance.
  • Strong digital literacy, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications, CRM systems, and data visualisation or automation tools.
  • Experience with Salesforce and CRM Analytics is desirable, but not essential, where there is clear curiosity and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A proactive, self‐motivated approach to personal and professional development and continuous process improvement.
  • A collaborative team player, able to adapt their communication style and build effective relationships with a range of internal stakeholders.
  • High levels of initiative and problem‐solving skills, with confidence exploring, shaping and embedding new technologies within a developing operational environment.

What you’ll gain

  • The opportunity to strengthen and inform all aspects of our fundraising and alumni engagement goals.
  • Hands-on training in industry standard systems, including Salesforce Education Cloud and CRM Analytics.
  • Direct experience working within a fundraising and alumni engagement function, delivering real impact through philanthropy and engagement opportunities.
  • The chance to join a supportive and collaborative team environment, with genuine opportunities to learn and develop professionally, alongside a programme of ongoing digital infrastructure developments.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in working with data and systems and make a meaningful contribution to the long‐term success of the University of Hull’s philanthropy programme.
