Salary: Pay grade 8-10 (SCP 25-37) depending on experience/up to £48,226 plus essential car user allowance and uniform.
Hours: 37 hours per week (part time will also be considered). After initial training, participation in the Authority’s standby service with additional payment.
The joint board Authority is funded by Hull City Council, North Lincolnshire Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council and covers a large geographic area in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. The Humber port facilities form the largest port complex in the UK. Port health has increased profile and offers challenging, rewarding work.
Additional responsibilities:
- Carry out Official Controls on imported food at two new Border Control Posts in Hull and Killingholme from April 2024.
- Respond to emergencies as part of the Authority’s wider civil contingencies responsibilities.
Core duties:
- Imported food control.
- Food premises inspections.
- Ship sanitation.
- Water sampling.
- Environmental permitting.
- Statutory nuisance.
- Infectious disease control.
Qualifications:
- CIEH accredited Degree or diploma in Environmental Health.
- Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health preferred.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
- Ability to travel across both North and South banks of the Humber.
