Lecturer in Automotive
Location: Hull
Salary: £26,772 – £40,052 FTE per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Annual Leave: 42 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)
The lecturer will work primarily with students engaged across a range of courses, providing support needed to achieve their programme of study. They will be innovative in teaching methods and responsible for aspects of leadership within the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities. Collation and submission of financial claims as required to appropriate funding bodies and partners.
- Plan, prepare and update all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials, using Canvas.
- Lead, coordinate and support course activities that will support the achievement of curriculum area targets. Accurately carry out the qualification completion process within the departmental systems in a timely manner.
- Take responsibility and facilitate academic tutorials for students.
- Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including attending open events, school tasters and enrolment events, among other activities.
- Assess, monitor, and record feedback to students to facilitate their best achievement using the College’s data systems and processes, working to exam board guidelines and quality systems.
- Lead, coordinate and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area.
- Contribute to the quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area.
- Attend meetings and communicate with colleagues within the curriculum area as and when required.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of subject specialism by attending appropriate professional or vocational updating.
What We’re Looking For
- Subject specialism (minimum Level 3/4)
- Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Experience of working in an academic setting and working with learners to support their needs
- Knowledge of the specialist sector
- Organisational, administrative and time management skills
- Ability to use own initiative to develop and improve the service within the constraints of the College policy and procedures
- Digital proficiency or willingness to receive training
