Working Hours: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £24,794 FTE (Actual Salary £12,397 per annum)

Annual Leave: 145 hours per annum

As our Learning Resources Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support, exceptional customer service, and proactive assistance to users within the ELEVATE Learning Resources Centre (LRC). The post holder will ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the LRC, promote positive use of the space, and support users to work effectively and make full use of available resources and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service in the LRC, offering day-to-day support to students, staff, and visitors
  • Support users to locate, access and use relevant learning resources to meet research and study needs
  • Deliver first-line digital support to students and staff, including assistance with college systems, printing and scanning, and other LRC technologies
  • Issue, return, and renew library stock using the library management system
  • Support learners in the use of assistive technologies and accessibility tools
  • Contribute to learner inductions and literacy activities as required
  • Monitor learner behaviour in the LRC, promoting appropriate use of the space and enforcing LRC policies
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in Elevate, including shelving and tidying up materials
  • Assist with displays, promotions, and reading-for-pleasure activities
  • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection procedures at all times
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy Qualifications
  • Recognised IT Qualification
  • Familiarity with essential library functions and a commitment to developing a good knowledge of our online resources
  • Proficiency in using technology, including library software, databases, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer centric approach
