As our Skills Coach in Motor Vehicle, you will be required to induct, coach, review, mentor, monitor and track learners on apprenticeship programmes, on employers' premises, on-site at the college and working remotely. The post will involve contributing to the delivery, assessment and progress of learners on their apprenticeship programmes to ensure they have the appropriate skills for a life of work.

The post holder will be expected to deliver apprenticeship standards and will be responsible for coaching learners to achieve skills, behaviours and knowledge to pass their apprenticeship to a distinction level wherever possible. The Skills Coach in Motor Vehicle will maintain a caseload of apprentices using our online e-portfolio system, in line with Hull College policy and to be agreed with the line manager based on the particular sector subject area(s), the type of employment placement and geographical spread of our students. This role may also be required to undertake Internal Verification duties.

Responsibilities of our Skills Coach Motor Vehicle:

  • To ensure that all apprentices records are compliant and in line with the apprenticeship funding rules.
  • To use the college e-portfolio system and other IT systems as directed and promote the use of digital skills with colleagues and apprentices.
  • To adhere to apprenticeship processes which contribute to the overall achievement rates of the college.
  • To provide an inclusive learning environment for apprentices, embedding enrichment activities throughout their delivery programmes.
  • Provide apprenticeship programmes in partnership with employers input where applicable.
  • Provide appropriate information, careers advice and guidance to apprentices, employers and prospective apprentices.
  • Maintain the highest standards when representing the college with employers leading to repeat 'business'.
  • Deliver learning, mentoring, coaching and assessment to meet the needs of employers and apprentices to the standards set by awarding bodies or end point assessment organisations.
  • Review and monitor apprentices progress against the apprenticeship standard, ensuring completion and achievement of all elements including functional skills to ensure apprentices pass through gateway and end point assessment is completed and achieved timely.
  • To provide individualised programmes to meet the needs of employers to ensure apprentices develop new skills, knowledge and behaviours relevant to their industries needs.
  • Embed maths and English into delivery to ensure all apprentices develop English and maths skills appropriate to their industry.
  • Participate as a full member of the delivery team and contribute to the development, promotion and high-quality delivery of programmes including standardisation meetings and quality improvement.
