Role and Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Cook to lead, manage and develop the catering service provision to the customers served by the Council’s Catering Department.
The role requires effective management and craft skills, the ability to create menus, produce nutritional data in line with the Caroline Walker Trust standards for adults, and stay up-to-date with current trends in commercial catering.
- Principal Accountabilities
- Develop the service in line with management and Government guidelines.
- Maintain an organised, safe and hygienic working environment in accordance with current legislation and corporate policies – HACCP/Natasha’s Law legislation.
- Produce, develop all menus and provide a consistently high-quality service to our customers.
- Lead, develop and support a customer-focused workforce.
- Order goods, supplies and services from nominated suppliers in accordance with corporate, divisional, and departmental procedures.
- Develop and train all employees and administration processes through induction, achievement and development interviews and on-site training.
- Organise and record details of regular meetings with staff, managers, site managers, customers and tenants.
- Promote the aims and objectives of the department in a professional manner to internal and external partners.
- Work closely with the Catering Manager to develop a focused customer-based service.
- Reconcile and control all on-site cash/income processes and procedures.
- Manage the day-to-day administration of the computerised pre-payment till systems and kitchen cypad manager for monitoring and procedures.
Qualifications
- Standard or Enhanced DBS disclosure required; full disclosure of criminal record unless protected convictions or cautions.
- Proven track record as a team leader with experience in catering service provision.
- Ability to create menus, produce nutritional data and demonstrate compliance with food standards.
- Knowledge of current trends in commercial catering and ability to develop new dishes.
- Coaching and training skills to develop staff.
