Are you an experienced Trading Standards professional ready to lead a dynamic team? We are looking for a passionate and strategic Principal Trading Standards Officer to join our Public Protection team within the Public Health and Adult Services Directorate.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage statutory functions across speciality areas of Trading Standards including Weights and Measures, Food Standards, Feed Standards, Animal Health, Petroleum, Explosives, Tobacco Control and Product Safety Legislation.
- Be highly motivated and want to work in a team that delivers excellent service, and will be experienced in managing staff with proven experience in decision making and managing resources.
- Develop and implement annual work plans, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with national and local targets.
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to confidently engage with partner agencies including the FSA, NFCU and other local authorities.
- A proven track record of working collaboratively to achieve service delivery, using innovative thinking to improve outcomes and demonstrating respect and fairness for others.
- Be experienced in identifying opportunities for joint working, accessing funding and grants, managing budgets and creating innovative programmes of activity.
- Provide expert advice, manage complex investigations, and represent the Council in legal and public forums.
- Drive innovation through digital transformation and contribute to policy development and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- You will hold the TSPD, DCATS, DTS or previous equivalent acceptable qualification and have at least 3 years post qualification experience. This must include a qualification that enables you to undertake high risk food visits in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice and a S.73 Certificate.
