Job Description:

Passenger Transport at Hull City Council are recruiting Casual Passenger Assistants. You will be required to travel and supervise our clients to and from Local Authority educational establishments or adult day centres across the city.

Casual Passenger Assistants are required to work on an ‘as and when needed’ basis however due to increasing client numbers we have various routes and hours available at locations across the city. Working hours are generally arranged around school start and finish times but also around activities and specialist lessons throughout the day. Working hours will vary depending on the route and the number of pupils travelling on each transport. Please contact our team for an informal discussion around how flexible our scheduling can be and how we can accommodate your needs should you be successful.

You will normally board the vehicle at a point close to your home address, ideally this will be close to the first pickup point for the first child on the route however where this is not possible we can arrange for you to meet transport at our depot or at a location close to start of the transport route, you will normally be returned to the same point at the end of each journey.

As a Passenger Assistant you are required to be responsible for the care and supervision of pupils whilst they are travelling to and from schools within Hull and the surrounding area, some of the pupils will have special needs. Basic training will be given prior to starting work and your learning and skills will be developed throughout your period of employment.

A caring and responsible attitude towards children is essential as is a willingness to undertake training. You must have good communication skills and a flexible approach. A basic knowledge of first aid would be helpful.

This post is to work with children and on occasion vulnerable adults therefore the preferred candidate will be required to complete and maintain an enhanced DBS check for both categories. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of this pre-employment check being deemed satisfactory.

This post has a minimum requirement of 2 references, one of these will be your current or most recent employer.
