Overview
As Adoption Team Manager you will lead the Adoption Service, guiding recruitment, assessment, and family finding for children needing permanence. You will work within a regional collaboration (One Adoption North and Humber) to promote best practice, drive service development, and secure positive outcomes for children and families. You will oversee governance, performance, and multi-agency partnerships while ensuring high-quality, compliant service delivery. This is a strategic leadership role with a focus on safeguarding, continuous improvement, and effective resource management. Responsibilities
- Manage the adoption and post-order service, including duty, assessment and family support to birth families, adopted children, adopters and others affected by adoption
- Chairs multi-agency meetings and provides expert advice to colleagues and the Adoption Panel
- Make decisions on adoption and post-order support within delegations
- Recruit, appoint and supervise staff, including Adoption Panel members, and ensure training and development
- Ensure procedures are followed and regular audits of case files to ensure quality of work and robust assessments
- contribute to inspection processes and monitor team performance against minimum requirements
- Make budgetary and other decisions within the scheme of delegations
- Lead and motivate the social work team to meet statutory requirements and professional standards
- Work with regional partners to promote best practice and service development
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and Hull Safeguarding Board protocols are followed
Key requirements
- Experience leading adoption services and post-order work
- Ability to chair multi-agency meetings and advise on adoption matters
- Strong leadership to manage a social work team and drive performance
- Experience with budget decisions and delegations within a local authority
- DBS disclosure required with details declared
- Knowledge of adoption legislation and inspection processes
