Specialist Trainer (Fabrication & Welding) in Hull

This is a full time, permanent position. Hull Training and Adult Education, part of Hull City Council, is one of the largest providers of vocational training and further education in the region with an excellent reputation for delivering quality courses to industry. In line with a planned move into a new bespoke city centre training facility in late 2026, we are now seeking a Specialist Tutor to oversee our Fabrication & Welding curriculum.

This individual will have the autonomy to design and deliver a brand-new curriculum and contribute to meeting planned growth targets for the engineering department. We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic individual with relevant fabrication and welding vocational experience and qualifications who can make a significant contribution to the quality of our provision. Experience of apprenticeship standards and knowledge of DfE funded delivery would be an advantage, as would teacher training and/or assessing qualifications.

You will be expected to deliver both practical and theory-based sessions to students as well as carry out work-based visits to employers, so good communication skills and an ability to motivate others is essential. You will also be expected to effectively monitor and track the progress of learners, identify and implement extra support where needed, and proactively encourage all learners to successfully achieve their qualifications.

Principal Accountabilities:

• To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
• Customer Focus - Undertakes the identification of learning needs and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing learning resources to develop programme delivery and maximise learner performance and achievement.
• Performance Management - High impact on the outcomes for HTAE young people and adults in terms of improving performance through effective learning and development.
• Statutory Obligations - None.
• Leadership - Leads on learning programmes and provides consultancy to employers, advice and guidance on these, in support of strategic priorities and awarding body guidelines.
• Service Delivery - Ensures equality of access to all learning programmes.
• Team Development and Capability - Aids the team to have the right skills, knowledge and attitudes to perform their duties.
• Self Management and Development - Builds a reputation of respect from customers, peers and managers.

Salary and Benefits:

• Compensation Grades: GRADES 9.
• Pay Ranges: £39,862.00 - £42,839.00.
