Hull City Council is seeking a proactive and resilient Environmental Protection Officer to join our Environmental Regulation team. You’ll investigate complaints of statutory nuisance—such as noise, odour, and smoke—and work with residents, internal teams, and external agencies to resolve complex public health issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve environmental nuisance complaints.
- Use specialist equipment to assess and gather evidence.
- Provide technical advice and prepare reports for enforcement.
- Liaise with vulnerable individuals and multi-agency partners.
- Participate in our out-of-hours rota and lone working.
What You’ll Need
- B.Tech in Environmental Health or equivalent or considerable practical experience of dealing with environmental statutory nuisance issues.
- Certificate in Environmental Noise Measurement (IOA) or willingness to complete.
- Experience in statutory nuisance investigations.
- Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of environmental health legislation and safeguarding.
