The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

This is a part time fixed term post to cover maternity leave until 31st December 2026. If the postholder requires a Standard or Enhanced DBS disclosure the candidate is required to declare full details of everything on their criminal record unless the conviction/s and/or caution/s are considered “protected” in line with filtering rules for DBS checks.

ROLE AND PURPOSE

To increase the face to face delivery capacity across the Family Hub network in order to provide targeted support for parents/ carers and children (0-2 years), thereby preventing isolation and family problems from escalating, bringing about sustainable behavioural change, increasing resilience, improving outcomes and decreasing dependency on public services. To support new parents and carers to access a range of direct and peer support activities via group activity, by developing and delivering a range of targeted Early Help services which will achieve and sustain positive outcomes for families across Hull, predominantly to children 0-2 years and their families as part of an integrated, multi-agency Early Help Hub.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and families.
  • To develop and deliver high quality learning and play activities and groups to engage children, new parents and carers, through peer support and interaction with other families, reducing social isolation and increasing community networks.
  • To improve physical and mental well-being for families, through the provision of infant massage groups, breast feeding peer support groups and Us Mums physical activities, encouraging parental interaction, attachment and bonding and learning through play.
  • To deliver sensory sessions for children 0-3 identified as part of the SEND early identification pathway and sessions to support improvements in early speech, language and communication co-working with SLC practitioners.
  • To carry out home visits and outreach work targeting those who are most disadvantaged and vulnerable, which provide support, advice and guidance to parents and carers about Early Help services available including those delivered in Children’s Centres, by partner agencies and in the local community to encourage active participation and involvement in local services.
  • To deliver Cooking on a Budget, healthy eating, introducing solid foods and HENRY courses for local families to support healthy weight and lifestyles.
  • To support with roll out of training across the partnership for ‘Reducing Parental Conflict’ and early identification and support around parental conflict with new parents and carers jointly with health visiting.
  • To provide information and advice on home safety and accident prevention as part of the integrated delivery and resources provided to support families, and further embedding Safe Sleep, ICON (Babies Cry, You Can Cope) and CONI approaches across targeted families.
  • Undertake appropriate evaluation and monitoring of all services ensuring user views are sought systematically and this is used to influence and shape future service delivery and continuous service improvement.
  • Maintain accurate case records for all individuals within a family ensuring timely update and capturing all family outcomes utilising the relevant ICT systems as directed and in compliance with data protection legislation.
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health & safety and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council’s Corporate H&S policy.
