Marketing & Communications Apprentice
Are you creative, curious, and full of ideas? Do you enjoy creating content, telling stories, and finding new ways to engage people? St Mary’s College is looking for a Marketing & Communications Apprentice to join their team!
As part of St Cuthbert’s RC Academy Trust, you’ll have the opportunity to learn, contribute, and make a real difference across a Trust of 15 schools, working alongside experienced colleagues in marketing, communications, and business support.
Key Responsibilities
As the Marketing & Communications Apprentice, you’ll play an important role in helping them tell the stories of their schools, students, staff and wider Trust community.
You’ll gain practical experience across a wide range of marketing and communications activities, including:
- Creating engaging content for social media, school websites, internal communications and displays.
- Building positive and meaningful relationships with colleagues across the Trust, including Business Support teams, Senior Leadership Teams, Heads of School and Pastoral Leaders.
- Supporting the creation and delivery of internal communications.
- Supporting internal events and generating engaging content, including photographs, testimonials, news stories and other materials.
- Capturing basic photography, video and audio content.
- Proofreading newsletters, website news stories and other communications.
- Learning how stand‑alone communications and engagement projects are planned and delivered, including event promotion, awareness‑raising campaigns and event displays.
- Supporting external marketing campaigns when required.
- Carrying out quality assurance checks across the Trust’s social media platforms.
- Researching and supporting best‑value purchasing of marketing assets and resources.
Skills & Knowledge
St Mary's College is looking for someone enthusiastic, creative and keen to learn. You don’t need to know everything already; what matters most is your attitude, curiosity and willingness to develop.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Level 5 or above.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and the ability and enthusiasm to learn new creative software packages.
- A genuine creative flair and an interest in copywriting and content creation.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to store and label content securely and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence to share and present your own ideas and recommendations.
- A positive approach to teamwork and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- A ‘can-do’ attitude and strong work ethic.
- Self‑motivation, curiosity and an open mind.
- A willingness to learn, experiment and explore new ways of achieving goals.
- The flexibility to work independently while adapting to change within a growing multi‑academy Trust.
